Abstract
I have always wanted to invest my life in helping people, this has led me into the path of becoming a judge. My ultimate goal would not be accomplished though if I did not practice as a lawyer first, so I began to question, “How do I become a successful lawyer?” At my mentorship with Judge Jason Deal, I have been able to witness many lawyers in action. This learning experience has taught me a lot and has led me to research how to become a successful lawyer. There are many types of lawyers with different job requirements, but all lawyers must follow certain steps to become successful. My research has shown that one must get good grades because they are detrimental to job acceptance, that as a lawyer you must always keep your integrity and honesty, and that you will have to face clients at times with traumatic experiences. The ultimate success in a job is determined by your happiness and content in it, this is why the best lawyers are those that do it to help others rather than profit. As a lawyer for family, criminal, or even divorce law, you will have clients that require special attention because of traumas concerning their case and thus should take special precautions but also abstain from getting personally invested. Another thing to keep in mind for future lawyers is to always keep your integrity, once integrity is lost to win a case, it can be hard to regain an honest image among your peers and even judges. By keeping one's integrity you will stand out among lawyers and truly become successful. My research has led me to these conclusions and hopefully will help others with their desires to plunge into life as a lawyer.
